Job Purpose
The Upper Primary General Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to students in the upper primary grades. The teacher will create an engaging, safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, character development and a love for lifelong learning, while supporting the vision and values of LittlePearls.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the school’s curriculum.
- Teach the assigned upper primary subjects effectively using a variety of teaching strategies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Integrate educational technology to enhance learning where appropriate.
- Encourage independent learning and student participation.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Prepare and administer classwork, homework, projects and assessments.
- Assess student performance regularly and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance.
- Identify students requiring additional support or enrichment and implement appropriate interventions.
- Prepare student reports in accordance with school requirements.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful and disciplined learning environment.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent classroom management strategies.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students under your care.
- Maintain an organised, clean and stimulating classroom.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with parents and guardians.
- Communicate student progress and concerns professionally and promptly.
- Attend parent meetings, school events and conferences as required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student success.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development and school training.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and school improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers on cross-curricular activities and projects.
- Carry out supervisory duties and other responsibilities assigned by the school leadership.
Qualifications
- A recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Education or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A valid teaching registration/licence where applicable.
Experience
- Previous teaching experience in upper primary education is preferred.
- Experience teaching multiple primary subjects is an advantage.
